News About The Dalry By-Pass

by Billy Long

This week's local newspaper " The Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald" on page 17, a Labour MSP who represents Labour for The West Of Scotland Group has demanded an definitive answer to when the Dalry By-Pass will finally get the Go-Ahead.

Margaret McDougall the MSP has asked the Scottish Government to stop "Dithering" as it has been put on the back burner for too long and it is threatening the economic recovery of North Ayrshire and the benefits that would reduce the high amount of traffic congestion within Dalry itself..She is looking for a more concrete timescale of when it is to be planned and constructed to help resolve the issue of delays.

Lynsey Shaw says

'benefits that would reduce the high amount of traffic congestion within Dalry itself'.

Sorry folks but I am going to reiterate the arguments that locals made when this was first planned - what about the impact of losing passing trade?

Billy Long says

you should try living near the town centre Lynsey maybe your views would change in favour of the new road then.

Iain McMillan says

the losing of passing trade might be unfortunate but it's a price we have to pay to get our town back to normality.

Also I'm not really sure how much passing trade all this traffic congestion actually brings. All I see is thousands of cars passing through Dalry every day bringing congestion and pollution.

The only reason they stop is because they are in a traffic jam!

Billy Long says

The roads in our town centre are just far too busy and if the new road was built we could have tree lined streets, cycle lanes , shops with canopies above them and maybe Parisian style street cafes and bars and markets to encourage shoppers to the town.!

A pity the people of dalry they must suffer from the smoke fumes bad .

This traffic buildup never was as bad until they put the new traffic lights up past the first traffic lights.

The lights at woodsides hardware go green you go and get stopped around the corner at another set of lights then go past them and another set of lights .

The sequence is all wrong the other day the buildup of traffic was at the railway bridge outside of dalry If thats every day I'm glad a dont stay in dalry
