It's the end of the year and the end of a decade - times can be tough, but let's instead dwell on the GOOD things which have happened in the last ten years.

We might be facing turmoil and great challenges - financial, environmental, political, local - but let's see if we can make a list of everything that's been GOOD here in Dalry.

So what are the best things to happen to Dalry over the last decade? Think of sports victories, fantastic events, the school, local heroes, the landscape, town improvements and positive developments, shared joys or happy memories.

Why are we 'the best wee toun in the area', as Isabella McManus wrote from Afghanistan?

Post your suggestions and we'll compile our s1dalry Best of the Best list.

Friendly people - I moved here 6 years ago from England and I love the local shops. Having a good butcher, greengrocer, bakers, Co-op and hardware store are really unusual nowadays. I enjoy people knowing who I am and what sort of things I like in a shop - so much friendlier than the big stores. It's something you only really appreciate when you have to do without it.
Also the lovely walks - especially now there are the guided walks such as Lynn Falls and Baidland Hill.
I like this idea "Let's make a list: The Best of the Best in .......". Every town should use this. Merry Christmas.
Not a bad wee walk down the lane to Pitcon, through the woods, around the back of the Roche plant, under the railway and back to the main road. Doggartland is pleasant, but the path is very bad in places. A walk up to the Fisherman's Bridge at the Blair via the railway station is the start of several walks, especially down to Dalgarven Mill for a nice snack if you are feeling energetic.
As a member of Dalry Action Group i would like to thank the community for their support over the years in making the events possible. Well done Dalry.
I have always lived in Dalry and was a teacher at Dalry Primary for many years. I am involved in many community groups and think that Dalry is the BEST. The school is amazing having just put on Cinderella the panto and involving all children P1 - 3 in the Christmas Celebration in St Margaret's Church - what beautiful churches we have - Trinity is also lovely. No other town has such a central area as Dalry Cross to which all roads lead like a town in Italy. The Tinsel and Torchlight Night in November is the envy of all other towns in North Ayrshire as are our Christmas Lights. I lost my husband in August and there is no doubt that the caring support of Dalry folks has helped me to be strong and carry on with my life. Dalry folk are wonderful - thanks to you all. Let's continue to make Dalry a town to be proud of.
Yes it is a nice friendly enough town, wonderful walks around The Blair Estate and beyond it and The Lynn Glen, Fairlie Moors too. The best thing about Dalry is it is surrounded by beautiful countryside and wildlife. I once saw a badger in daylight behind the wall on the roadside to Kilwinning behind the Blair Estate many years ago walking with my old collie dog many years ago and was only 3 feet away from it. I wished I had a camera with me then.
