HOW EFFECTIVE IS OUR CCTV!

ONCE AGAIN I FIND MYSELF REPORTING ON AN ACT OF VANDALISM TO PROPERTY WITHIN VIEW OF THE CCTV CAMERA IN DALRY.

OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS I HAVE HAD COUNTLESS SIGNS AND BANNERS VANDALISED OR TORN DOWN, ALL WITHIN RANGE OF THE VERY EXPENSIVE CCTV SYSTEM.

THE LATEST INCIDENT WAS THE DALRY DAYCARE CENTRE BANNER, ADJACENT TO THE DALRY SHOP BANNER BEING RIPPED FROM THE FENCE AT THE TOP OF AITKEN STREET!

INDEED THE CORNER SHOP OPPOSITE THE CAMERA ITSELF HAD DAMAGE CARRIED OUT TO SIGNS ON ITS BUILDING.

IN THIS CURRENT FINANCIAL CLIMATE SHOULD LOCAL PEOPLE NOT BE SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES PROVIDING A MUCH NEEDED SERVICE AND PROVIDING VITAL EMPLOYMENT FOR THE LOCAL COMMUNITY?!

MY POINT IS THIS; HOW EFFECTIVE IS A CAMERA WHICH VISIBLY OFFERS TO THE OFFENDER A WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY TO CARRY OUT HIS/HER DESIRED CRIME. YOU ONLY HAVE TO LOOK AT THE SYSTEM TO SEE WHAT AREA IT IS COVERING AT ANY PARTICULAR TIME. SURELY A DOME CAMERA WHERE IT IS NOT KNOWN AS TO WHICH DIRECTION IT IS COVERING IS THE ONLY SOLUTION. 

HOW MANY CRIMES CARRIED OUT SINCE ITS INSTALLATION HAS IT ACTUALLY RECORDED, RESULTING IN PROSECUTION?
