Help make history with Dalry building's makeover competition
14 FebruaryThe people of Dalry are being given the chance to make a little of bit of history - literally!
As part of North Ayrshire Council's ongoing work to regenerate the town, the Club Bar – one of the most prominent buildings in the town centre – is going to be given a makeover with a twist.
Design agency 6274 is working with the Council and Business Dalry to create window graphics for the disused premises which will span Dalry's history and involve the whole community.
Local people will be asked to dress up to represent Dalry across the ages – from a Victorian Lord of the Manor to a 1920's brickworker, a World War II veteran to a Tartan Army footsoldier heading off the '78 World Cup.
The designers are looking to take photographs from specific eras and will be able to help people with their clothing requirements. If you are interested or have any questions contact the company by email.
Photographs for the window graphics will be taken at a special fancy dress night at the Turf Inn, Courthill Street, on Monday, February 20 from 6-9pm. There will be a complimentary buffet on the night.
Alex Anderson, North Ayrshire Council's Economic Development Manager, said: "This is a fantastic project which will not only brighten up a very prominent part of Dalry Town Centre, it will help to bring the community together and immortalise local people in one of the town's landmark buildings.
"I hope that this captures the imagination of the Dalry people and that as many of them as possible take part in the fancy dress event. We congratulate the Business Dalry team for their hard work in the town centre and wish them the best of luck with this project."
