Were You Born In Dalry Parish?

by Billy Long

An interesting conversation under the thread of "Where Is Kirk Close?" under the Memories Section, where I asked if people knew and remembered the well respected late Doctor Watt who practised as a GP in the town. There was a reply by Marihi Henderson that herself and her sister was both delivered at home by the doctor.

Most Dalry people who have lived here where either were born at home or at Irvine Central or now at the new Ayrshire Maternity Unit at Crosshouse. Some folk like myself was born at Buckreddan in Kilwinning which used to be a maternity home before it became a care home and nursery. Or where you born under different circumstances elsewhere?

So where you actually born in Dalry or in it's parish under the postcode of KA24? Where were you Christened or baptised in a Dalry Church by a minister, priest, layman etc, now long gone? Have you always lived your life in Dalry or moved to another part of the World? Please share your thoughts with us.

Memories, Nostalgia & History

History doesn't have to be in black & white

Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
