Summer Is Upon Us Now! Your Holiday Memories Doon The Watter!!!

by Billy Long

Summer is hear and the schools will be soon closing for the summer term holidays. Weather is changable though, but can you still remember the childhood days where & when you spent your summer days? Where you one of the lucky ones that got away on holiday to far flung places overseas or to Blackpool or the Highlands? Or did you go day trips Doon The Watter (which is a phrase used by Scots from Glasgow where they travelled down the Clyde Coast to the Seaside Resorts? ) Or did you spend it at home helping around the house or garden or working to meet ends meet? Or went fishing or swimming down the burn or to the pictures to see a matinee? Or did you work in a local farm to help out like tattie howking? How did you spend your summers if they was no televisions or computers or video games to keep you occupied? Did you spend your summer reading books from the local library to fill your time? Did you spend it playing tennis or putting or playing football or on a boat in the boating pond of the Public Park? Where you are a Gala Queen at a local fete? How did you spend your summer months away from School? Let us know here at s1dalry.com/memories.

Memories, Nostalgia & History

History doesn't have to be in black & white

Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
