Rye Water {for Frank Gracey}
The mellow air of early-spring
would make a lovelorn blackbird sing.
Once fruit has ripened in the sun
the golden-hues of Autumn come
The driving storms, the leaden skies
the snow on hill, and rooftop, lies.
And when the grey clouds drift apart
there comes a lightness of the heart.
And, then, the birds' auspicious song
will herald one more winter's gone.
Now, days grow longer by the hour
the harebell in the hedgerow flower.
That eternal spring of life -it seems
The Rye in morning sunlight gleams.

Got a bit confused about the difference between a water and a river. The water, it seems, is a tributary of a main river,The Garnock, for example.However, a water can still be called a river, too, just to confuse matters; thus, the River Rye...
Think I've got that right.
