The best means to contact DPS Parent Council

What is the Parent Forum?
The membership of the Parent Forum is made up of parents who have a child in an education authority school. Parents are automatically members of the Parent Forum for their school. One of the ways parents in the Parent Forum will be able to express their views will be through the Parent Council. As a member of the Parent Forum, each parent can expect to:
- Receive information about the school and its activities
- Hear more in future about what partnership with parents means in their school
- Be invited to be involved in ways and times that suit them
- Participate in deciding how the parent representative body, the Parent Council, is organised and how it operates
- Identify issues they want the Parent Council to work on with the school
- Be asked their opinion by the Parent Council on issues relating to the school and the education is provides-
- Work in partnership with staff
- Enjoy taking part in the life of the school in whatever way they can

It is important that all parents know about their membership in the Parent Forum.

What is the Parent Council?
The Parent Council is a group of parents selected by members of the Parent Forum to represent all the parents of children at a school. Parent Councils are very flexible groups with the Parent Forum deciding on how the group represent their views. Parents might decide they want a representative from each year group in the school. They might want to include pupils, other teachers at the school or parents from a feeder primary or secondary school. This flexibility allows parents to choose a Parent Council which reflects their school and will encourage parents to get involved.

The type of things a Parent Council could get involved in includes:
- Supporting the work of the school
- Gathering and representing parents' views to the head teacher, education authority and HMIE
- Promoting contact between the school, parents, pupils, providers of nursery education and the local community
- Fundraising
- Organised events
- Being involved in the appointment of senior staff

Is there any reason why St Pallidius Primary School is never mentioned in the Dalry News, after all it has been in Dalry for 100 years .

Hi I find this amusing, i walked to the school yesterday afternoon to find the same people and parents etc several of them who are in the PTA and the parents council still not giving a damn about others the way they blatantly abandoned their cars it is the complete hight of ignorance and they should all be charged, you would think that they should be leading an example but surprise surprise they don't.

Karen, as your local correspondent of s1dalry.com, I wrote a letter to all schools in the area that Dalry school children are likely to attend, to put their schools news effecting any Dalry pupils the town may like to know about.

These schools were as such, Dalry Nursery Centre, Dalry Primary School, St Palladius Primary School, Garnock Academy, Kilwinning Academy, and St Mathew's Academy.

Only Dalry Primary School have responded. It is really up to each individual school mentioned if they want their news on this website, in which they are more than welcomed to do so.

AGM (Statement from Dalry News In Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald - Myra Sim's Page.)

The Annual General Meeting for Dalry Primary Parent Council will be held on Tuesday June 22nd at 7.30pm in the restaurant area of the school.

The Parent Council is a group of parents selected by members of the 'Parent Forum' to represent all parents of children at the school. Any parent who has a pupil attending Dalry Primary School automatically becomes a member of the 'Parent Forum' and as such, is eligible to be elected onto the Parent Council.

If you are interested in taking an active role on the Parent Council, or would like to find out more, then please come along to the AGM. Your support is invaluable.
